One engineer, start to finish
Ten years of building and supporting software in production, now split between the products Marque Logic develops and a small number of platforms built for clients.
The name
A marque is the mark a maker puts on what they make: a stamp on the base, a signature in the corner. The name combines that meaning with the founder’s surname, and it is where the tagline comes from — technology engineered to leave a mark.
Background
Marque Logic started after eight years in enterprise support engineering. The last of them were focused on major incidents: coordinating engineering, product and infrastructure teams while a platform was down and customers were waiting for it to come back.
That background shapes how systems get built here. When you are the person who gets the call at three in the morning, you build software that tells you what it is doing and where it failed. That goes in from the first version, not after the first outage.
Why the products exist
Each product started with a real problem rather than a gap in the market — something that came up often enough to be worth solving properly, where the tools already available either did not help or made the work harder.
The goal is software people can depend on every day. A tool that demos well but adds work to someone’s week has failed, however good it looks. The test is whether the job is easier a month later: fewer steps, fewer manual checks, fewer surprises.
So the work goes into the details most products skip. What happens to a payment that falls on a holiday. Which exchange rate applied on the day the money moved. What the system shows when the data it needs is missing. Those details are what make a tool worth trusting.
How the work is done
Marque Logic is small on purpose. Nothing is subcontracted and nothing is handed off. The person who designs a system builds it, and is still the person who fixes it a year after launch.
That only works at a small scale, so only a few projects run at a time. Client platforms get the same standard and the same attention as the products built here.
